PROTRADER: PucaPicks for August 11, 2016

Hello and welcome to PucaPicks!

Each week, I’m going to go over cards that are undervalued, some of the cardboard you should send away right now, and some of the things that have had a lot of movement.

My goal is to help you buy low and sell high, increasing your points just by having the right timing.

For each card, I’m going to give you the current points and the foil price as well.

Today, I’m going to focus on Battle for Zendikar and Oath of the Gatewatch. We only have about eight months left of them being Standard-legal. I’m not sure what the eighteen-month period is going to do to these prices. Are people already selling out? Are they holding on desperately?

  1. Been trying to pick up the Eldrazis from OGW for the longest time. Nobody is sending out any Thoughtknot, Reality Smasher, Displacer nor Matter Reshaper.

  2. Cliff, great to see a series dedicated to picks in Puca! Although I suspect you won’t have enough market movement each week to support a weekly article that features high picks and sends. The best time to do this is when things are about to get shaken up (spoiler seasons and PT weeks). Still, there’s plenty to cover on this regard, just not exclusively Standard related. (although an article in Puca with the most recent trends shows that the great majority of trades in July consisted of Standard legal cards)
And yes, Eldrazi are great targets. But people sending out cards are definitely aware of this. Other good targets you might want to talk about are manlands.

    1. Going forward, I will absolutely talk about when is the right time to pick things up on Puca. It’s a tricky balance.

Standard cards are far easier to move and get on Puca, just because the supply is far greater and getting added to all the time.

  3. You realize pucatrade is dying? Not exactly the best time to be tying your ship to theirs…

    1. I don’t agree that they are dying. And until they do fold up, it’s a valuable tool for trading cards online. James and I talked a lot on MFF about the future of Puca.
