PROTRADER: All About That Jace, Vryn’s Prodigy

Bad headline puns aside, it’s true that kid Jace is everywhere these days. That is, if by “everywhere,” you accept “in the headlines” as a fulfillment. The truth is that Jace isn’t the powerhouse in eternal formats he’s made out to be, but he is a good planeswalker that sees play and rightfully is earning a lot of attention right now.

I’m going to start this week’s article with a video I made on the subject (rough transcript quoted below), and then delve into deeper specifics of what I see the future of our newest Jace to be.

  1. Hey Corbin, love the content as usual. I’ve been a avid listener of Brainstorm.
I’ll have to disagree with this one. I have a hard time seeing Jace go down till spring 2016. I would actually think it’s more likely to hit 100$ by December before it goes down. I guess I would do a fictive “Fogo bet” that Jace hit 100$ by december 2015.
Current standard shows no signs of having a better 2 drop. Ramp and control decks all love the card and it is very likely that the ProTour will propel the card higher.
Anyways, those are just my thoughts.

    Have a good one

  2. What is your opinion on foil Jace ? Sell or hold ? I agree that we are not seeing much of Jace jr in eternal formats, i think inclusion in a few lists have given him the “eternal format playable” tag but i just dont see the results to justify it..

  3. Wondering the same about foil Jace. Also, is there a difference between a normal foil Jace and a pre release foil Jace?

  4. I find it interesting that you say: Get rid of him right away while yesterday Travis said that he himself is picking up foils of the card.

Don’t you talk to each other or what is the reason why you two don’t agree on the subject?

    1. We specifically do not collaborate on topics of this nature ahead of publication. We’d rather each share our perspectives so that readers can see both sides of the question at hand

      1. I was just wondering, since it was two different approaches to the card, so I was just curious as to why one of you was saying keep/buy and the other was selling – but I assume it had something to do with the whole foil vs non-foil.

Great articles though (and good video!) keep ’em coming!
