    1. Combo of Oldschool demand + old printing with low quantities (both available and overall).

  1. Thanks for the finance recap and picks. I’m interested to hear your opinions on pre-order prices when we see what they are for the rest of the SOI cards. I’m sure most will be too expensive but it might be nice to hear which cards you are planning on holding onto after the pre-release. Of course most of the mythics and rares will be overpriced but there might be a few that are priced below what they should be due to other cards receiving all the hype.

I feel like Black/Red/Blue received most of the hype early because people are obsessed with Madness/Delirium. For this reason I’m expecting some Green/White cards to be drastically under-priced coming out of the gate. What are some of your Green/White picks from SOI? I feel like we have the best chance to find the “sleeper” card in those colors.

I’m seeing a lot of combat tricks, good removal, mana-ramp creatures, creatures with unique abilities and an abundance of flying/trample in white and green right now. Yet everyone is still talking about Madness/Delirium. I don’t think Green/White cares that much about delirium and many of these cards are more geared to creature combos and combat tricks and just being “good” all on their own.

    1. I agree with you. While I expect RB Vampires to be a real deck, I am crossing my fingers for a BFZ pet-card of mine: Zada. RG Wolves seems so awesome with Arlinn, but the main reason is Silverfur Partisan. You can build a huge board and pump it or give it evasion (blue-splash for Slip Through Space and draw some cards in the process). I really hope someone breaks this.

  2. Fuquan, I have been talking about RG wolves/warewolves with Zada for days now. I agree that it’s asking to be broken. 3 of the red pump spells are:Expedite, titan’s strength, and brute strength. The token multiplier for having just 1 extra wolf/warewolf out results in a virtual turn 5 kill. I keep predicting that silverfur partisan is severely undervalued right now and it will spike. Plus it’s gotta be a great casual card right?

    1. Spencer, we may need a few more good one and two drops. I think it is awesome, that there are already Hinterland Logger, Quilled Wolf, Duskwatch Recruiter and Ember-Eye Wolf (possibly) for 1G/1R and Village Messenger for R. Breakneck Rider (1RR) seems a bit restrictive, though. Maybe Neglected Heirloom would work in the deck as well, but maybe only if we get something like Moonmist or other Flip-Triggers than “no spells were cast last turn”.

  3. Ultimate Price doesn’t kill Eldrazi or Dragonlords. And it took you long enough to get to Anguished Unmaking, it will be the premier removal spell in Standard alongside Grasp and/or Stasis Snare. It’s over prices right now as far as preorder price and there’s going to be a Game Day Promo, but Anguished Unmaking is extremely good and 3 mana Instant Removal is a sweet spot in Standard. Wait for it to drop and then scoop a ton of them up. I agree it is NOT Vindicate in Modern, but it’s power level is top tier. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it as a 1 of main in Legacy Esper decks.

  4. Hi guys,

sorry for posting here. I just wanted to bounce back on the Dual Revised selling, as James gave me a lot of advices on that.

I Have an offer of 950€ for the underneath cards :

    1 Underground sea, 1 Tundra, 2 Tropical island, 1 Volcanic Island, 1 Bayou, 1 Savannah, 1 Scrubland.

Al cards are NM on the front. The blue duals, except for the U sea that nm on the back, are NM-/exc+ on the back.

Just wanted to know if you felt like I’m selling at a good price, meaning can I get more out of this?

A lot of people are telling me to keep the duals, as they will likely steadily increase in price, and so on. But I must admit I am a bit sceptical, and selling a U sea that’s worth 350€ in a few years will most likely be way harder, will it not?

FYI, the 950€ are the net price, as it’s a direct sell. Meaning no Paypal/shipping fees to deduce.

    Thanks a lot!!

    Jeff

    1. I see you’re quoting prices in euros, which means you’re in an entirely different local market than James and I. All I can tell you is to look at retail prices, completed ebay sales, etc. and see how the 950 offer compares to what you would be selling for individually. Getting to sell all eight at once is worth a small amount of value, since it saves you time, but I wouldn’t give up more than a few percent because of it. This is only a handful of big ticket items, and you won’t have trouble moving them if the buyer passes.

As for their long term health, the duals have been dropping in price for the last two years – right up until the EMA announcement. I’m happy to sell while they’ve spiked recently, as I don’t don’t expect much further growth over the next two years.

    2. The Underground Sea and Volcanic Island should sell for 220€+ (US) and 180€+ (VI) easily, but Savannah and Scrubland are only 50€ each. With Bayou at 100€, Tundra at 120€ and Tropical Island at 130€ (x2) you would arrive at 980€, which is the least you get for selling those individually. But since I used MCM as a reference, you would have to pay a fee of 5% (~50€ in total), so this deal seems really good if you need the money now.

  5. I wish James still posted weekly on mtgprice. I miss the “what we’re buying and selling this week” articles.
