This past week has been an absolute whirlwind for me and my family.  We took a vacation to Disneyland in Anaheim, California.  As you can imagine, activities were extremely fun while also draining.  The return flight home was a characteristic redeye overnight trip resulting in high tensions all around.  Needless to say, it was intense.

Therefore, I need to leave you all with one more abbreviated column for this week.  With any luck, next week will see a return to normalcy and as a result, a return to our normally scheduled full-length columns.

  1. Would you advocate buying reserved list cards now? Seems like you’re buying into a peak and hoping that it will turn marginally up more in the next couple months

    1. I think it’s more a case of Reserved List cards not quite following the same peak/trough pattern as other cards. There’s no reprint risk and if WotC are serious about promoting Eternal formats, there’s no reason for these to turn downward.

      In any case, taking Revised duals as an example, we saw a 33% increase (SCG pricing) on Eternal Masters announcement. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a further 25-50% increase ($500-600 Seas) soon after release, or even during spoiler season. I’m hoping I can pick some up during the EU GPs just before and during Eternal Masters release.

      Obviously, if you have the $$, unlimited and older duals are a much better bet than revised, but…

    2. I would always advocate that if you keep a long term perspective. If you are aiming at only a couple of months it may not be interesting to you.

    3. Some things have jumped, others jumped and pulled back, and others still haven’t moved nearly as much.

      I think the initial hype of the EMA announcement has faded somewhat. Once the new set releases, I have to imagine we’ll see more systemic growth. Anyway, that’s better than gambling on Standard in my opinion.

    4. If you have *any* interest of playing legacy with due to the EMA announcement, then you should have bought in several months ago. For peak chasers, I’d personally wait until the day before the set’s official spoilers begin. That way, the hype has died down before new hype gets introduced due to spoilers.
